How to calculate your grade — including unfinished work

For a weighted class, multiply every completed score by its weight. The planner divides earned contribution by completed weight to show your current grade. Blank scores count as remaining work, so it can solve for the average you need next.

For a points-based class, divide total points earned by total completed points possible. Add the possible points for upcoming work and leave earned points blank to model a target.

How to calculate the grade needed on a final

The formula is needed = (target − current × (1 − final weight)) ÷ final weight, with the final weight written as a decimal. A result above 100% means the target is not reachable under the entered assumptions; a result at or below 0% means it is already secured.

Grade calculator questions

Should weights add up to 100%?

Usually, yes. If you only enter part of the syllabus, this planner treats the unentered portion as unknown rather than silently inventing it. Check your course syllabus because some teachers normalize categories or drop scores differently.

Can this model extra credit or dropped assignments?

You can enter scores above 100% when your teacher awards extra credit. Dropped assignments should be removed from the plan. The calculator does not guess teacher-specific rules such as dropping the lowest quiz or category caps.

Are my grades uploaded?

No. The math runs in your browser. Autosave uses local browser storage on this device so you can return to the same plan; use Reset plan to erase it.
